It is made up of two words:

  • ครอบ (khrâwb) = to cover / to encompass
  • ครัว (khrūa) = household / kitchen

Together, ครอบครัว (khrâwb-khrūa) means ‘the household group’ or ‘family unit.’

ครอบครัวของฉันอาศัยอยู่ที่กรุงเทพฯ

Literal: Family belonging to-me live to be situated in Bangkok.
My family lives in Bangkok.

The noun กรุงเทพฯ (grūng-thâeb) is the capital city of Thailand. In everyday speech, Thai people usually say กรุงเทพฯ (grūng-thâeb) when referring to Bangkok.

ครอบครัวนี้ดูแลกันดี

khrâwb-khrūa née dūu-lāe gān dēe
Literal: Family this take care each other good.
This family takes good care of each other.

The verb ดูแล (dūu-lāe) means ‘to take care of,’ ‘to look after,’ ‘to care for,’ or ‘to be responsible for.’ It can be used for people, animals, objects, places, work, health, and responsibilities.
