Adjective: ล้ำค่า (lám-khâa)
Meaning: is precious / is valuable / is priceless / is of great value / is invaluable
In this Thai lesson, we learn how to use the adjective ล้ำค่า (lám-khâa), which means ‘precious,’ ‘valuable,’ ‘priceless,’ or ‘of great value.” It is used to describe something that is extremely important, treasured, or difficult to replace. It can refer to both physical things and abstract things such as time, memories, friendship, knowledge, and love.
It is made up of two words:
- ล้ำ (lám) = beyond / exceeding / surpassing
- ค่า (khâa) = value / worth
Together, ล้ำค่า (lám-khâa) means “beyond value” or “extremely valuable.” Like most Thai adjectives, ล้ำค่า (lám-khâa) usually comes after the noun it describes.
The typical structure usually follows the pattern: noun + ล้ำค่า (lám-khâa).
