In this Thai lesson, we learn how to use the noun ประสบการณ์ (bprà-sòb-gāan), which means ‘experience’. It refers to knowledge, understanding, or skills that a person gains from things they have done, seen, or lived through in life. The word can be used for life experience, work experience, travel experience, or personal experiences in general. It often occurs with words like:

• มีประสบการณ์ (mēe bprà-sòb-gāan) = to have experience
• ได้รับประสบการณ์ (dâi-ráb bprà-sòb-gāan) = to gain experience
• จากประสบการณ์ (jàak bprà-sòb-gāan) = from experience (Used when speaking about something learned through personal experience.)
• ขาดประสบการณ์ (k^hàad bprà-sòb-gāan) = to lack experience

chǎn dâi-ráb bprà-sòb-gāan mâak-māai jàak gāan-t^hām-ngāan née
Literal: I receive experience a lot from doing job this.
I gained a lot of experience from doing this job.

The word มากมาย (mâak-māai) means ‘a lot,’ ‘numerous,’ or ‘a great deal’. It is used to describe a large quantity or a large number of things. The word emphasises that something exists in abundance or in large amounts — noun / verb + มากมาย (mâak-māai).

jàak bprà-sòb-gāan k^hǎwng-chǎn, ngāan née mâi ngâai lēuy
Literal: From experience belonging to-me, job this not easy at all.
From my experience, this job is not easy at all.

The adverbial phrase ไม่…เลย (mâi…lēuy) is used to strongly emphasise a negative statement, meaning ‘not at all,’ ‘not even,’ or ‘not in the slightest’. It can modify a verb or an adjective — ไม่ (mâi) + verb / adjective + เลย (lēuy).

k^hǎo k^hàad bprà-sòb-gāan nāi dâan gāan-bpēn p^hôo-nām
Literal: He lack experience in the field of being leader.
He lacks experience in leadership.

The verb ขาด (k^hàad) means ‘to lack,’ to be missing,’ ‘to run out of,’ or ‘to be absent’. It describes a situation where something necessary or expected is not present — ขาด (k^hàad) + noun.
