As we step into May, and with a long bank holiday weekend ahead, I want you to pause for a moment and really acknowledge how far you’ve come in your Thai learning.

Songkran is more than just a celebration. It marks the Thai New Year — a time of renewal, reflection, and letting go of the past. In Thai culture, it’s a moment to wash away misfortune, start again with a lighter heart, and step forward with fresh energy.

As you move through April, focus on what you can do each day, no matter how small. Each word learned, each phrase practised, and each effort made is a step forward. Small steps, big heart — that’s the key to steady growth, lasting confidence, and the joy of learning Thai.

As students at Thai Language Tuition UK, you always hear me reminding you to practise consistently, to be patient with yourself, and to trust the process — even when progress feels slower than you would like.

Some weeks will feel smooth and easy. Other weeks will feel slower, heavier, maybe even frustrating. But one difficult day, one forgotten word, one challenging lesson — does not undo all your effort. It does not erase your progress. And it certainly does not mean you’re not improving.
